Glossary

Glossary

Twenty terms to understand a healthcare practice's online reputation.

Each term is defined in one to three sentences, with context specific to healthcare practice. Canonical terms are kept in English (NAP, Google Business Profile, schema.org); definitions and contexts are in English.

How to read this glossary

Terms are sorted alphabetically, by their English form. Use the A–Z bar at the top to jump straight to the letter you want.

A

Aggregator

A third-party site that collects reviews across many businesses (Doctolib, Yelp, Trustpilot).

For a practice, an aggregator is both a review source and a Google ranking factor. NAP consistency between your listing and aggregators matters more than the number of aggregators where you appear.

C

Code

Common shorthand for the healthcare code of conduct.

The code governs what a practitioner can do with online reviews: no solicitation, no promise of service, no mention of treatment in a reply. Every reply published by Revydo is filtered against this code.

CQC

Care Quality Commission. The UK regulator for health and social care providers in England.

For UK-based practitioners, Google reviews and CQC reports are read together by patients. A low score on one reflects on the other.

D

Disciplinary

Risk of a formal complaint to the practitioner's regulatory body triggered by an online review or an inappropriate reply.

A reply that mentions a treatment, contradicts the patient record, or discloses confidential information can trigger a procedure. Revydo blocks these replies before they are published.

Doctolib

French online medical appointment-booking platform, with an integrated review system.

Doctolib has become a go-to review aggregator for French patients. The Doctolib score and the Google score reinforce each other when consistent, and compete when they diverge.

G

GBP

Shorthand for Google Business Profile, used by local-SEO professionals.

You will hear 'GBP listing' from SEO agencies and 'Google listing' from practitioners. They refer to the same thing.

GMB

Former name of Google Business Profile (Google My Business), still used out of habit.

The name changed in 2022, but the GMB acronym is still common. Revydo uses the new name (GBP) internally.

Google

Google Business Profile. A business's public listing on Google: average rating, reviews, hours, address, photos.

For a practice, this is the first thing a future patient checks before calling. The listing is created automatically by Google, but only becomes useful once claimed and completed.

Growth

Growth Agent. Revydo's agent that invites satisfied patients to leave a review, through a neutral, untargeted channel.

The Growth agent respects deontological rules: no incentive, no targeting, no promise. It only activates after explicit practitioner approval, and only on honoured appointments.

I

Insight

Insight Agent. Revydo's agent that analyses reviews and replies to extract patterns: recurring themes, sore spots, time slots where negative reviews cluster.

The Insight agent publishes nothing: it produces a weekly report the practitioner can read in 5 minutes. It complements the Reputation Guardian agent, which reacts in real time.

J

JSON

JSON-LD. A JSON serialisation format for schema.org, embeddable in a page via a <script> tag.

It is the format Google recommends for annotating reviews, FAQs, and an organisation's identity. Revydo emits JSON-LD on every page it serves.

L

Local

Local SEO. The set of signals that cause a business to appear in Google's 'local pack' (the map + 3 listings) on a geo-located query.

For a practice, the 4 main signals are: NAP consistency, review volume, average rating, and the searcher's geographic proximity. Revydo acts on the first three.

N

NAP

Acronym for Name, Address, Phone. Refers to the consistency of a business's three core pieces of information across the web.

Google uses NAP consistency as a local ranking signal. A listing with inconsistent NAP (misspelled address, old phone number) will be ranked below a consistent one.

P

Practitioner

Practitioner listing. A distinct Google listing for a practitioner working in a group practice, attached to the practice's main listing.

Each chair or each practitioner can claim their own listing. For a 3-practitioner, 3-chair practice, local ranking often plays out at the practitioner level, not the practice level.

R

Reputation

Reputation Guardian. Revydo's agent that monitors in real time the average rating, new reviews, and weak signals (sensitive keywords, rating drops over 7 days).

The agent alerts the practitioner as soon as a signal triggers, with an analysis and three suggested replies. It never publishes on its own: it proposes, the practitioner disposes.

Request

Review request. A message sent to a patient after their visit inviting them to leave a review on the practice's Google listing.

The request must be neutral, untargeted, and opt-out-able. Revydo only sends it for honoured appointments, never after a visit flagged as difficult.

Response

Review Agent. Revydo's agent that drafts the reply to a Google review, in the voice the practitioner has validated, and filtered through deontological rules.

The agent proposes, the practitioner disposes. No reply is published without explicit validation. On sensitive reviews, no draft is even generated: the practitioner receives an alert and writes the reply themselves.

Review

Review gating. The practice of filtering patients before asking them for a review, in order to solicit only patients assumed to be satisfied.

Gating is forbidden by Google, by the healthcare code of conduct, and by Revydo's practice. Revydo's review requests are neutral, sent to all patients, and opt-out-able.

S

Schema

Schema.org. The structured data vocabulary maintained by the main search engines to describe a page's content.

For a practice, schema.org lets you annotate reviews (Review, AggregateRating), opening hours, and the home page. Google can show these annotations directly in search results.

Secret

Medical confidentiality. The legal duty, binding on the practitioner, not to disclose any information that comes to their knowledge in the course of their duties.

Medical confidentiality also applies to Google replies: a review that mentions a treatment, a symptom, or an outcome cannot receive a reply that confirms, contradicts, or elaborates. Revydo blocks these replies before they are published.

Sentiment

Automated classification of a review's tone (positive, neutral, negative) by a language-understanding model.

Sentiment is used by the Reputation Guardian agent to prioritise alerts, and by the Insight agent to produce the weekly report. It never replaces the practitioner's judgement.

See also: Reputation Guardian · Insight · Response SLA

SLA

Response SLA. A commitment to reply within a given timeframe. Example: 24 hours for 4★ and 5★ reviews, immediate escalation for 1★ and 2★ reviews.

The SLA is what turns a practice into a 'practice that replies'. Revydo measures performance against the SLA every week and alerts when the target slips.
